I have an old laptop hp pavilion dv 6500.After downloading High sierra and make bootable usb with Trans Mac setup now i am ready to install. I have just one disk and there is no os on it and i want just install mac yet.SO i formatted my one partition into NTFS. After rebooting my laptop and plug. OS X isn't licensed for the HP and there's no native support for the HP hardware. You'll never get a stable or well performing OS X install on the HP.
What does “Still waiting for root device” means? It means that a driver/kext for the source from which you are booting is not detected properly by the mac operating system (USB kext not detected or loaded) Mac OS released prebuilt with the latest drivers that supports SATA out of the box but you may face this issue.

I've tried this with a VB profile for both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Snow Leopard, using all default settings, both of which exhibit the same symptoms: The profile fires up and looks like it's attempting to launch, then hangs indefinitely, repeating the same message 'Still waiting for root device' every ~30 seconds or so. I've Googled the issue and ran across a similar previous post, wherein the consensus seemed to be that this error appears when the host unit is unable to natively support the OS you're trying to install on the VM. Except in this case, the host unit can support 10.4.7 > 10.7.5... Any foresight or suggestions would be appreciated!

How Can You Fix It?
- Try to boot with the kernel flag USBBusFix=Yes this usually triggers All The USB Ports & Fix all usb related issues
- LGA 1156 motherboard Users Install Zenith432’s GenericUSBXHCI.kext into the Bootable USB ( /Extra/Extensions ) Using Kext Wizard / Transmac (If you’re using windows)

Case 2: DVD
You May be trying to Install Mac OS X Using a DvD. This occurs when Your DVD Drive is not recognized by Mac OS X ( Unless if you’re using a USB DvD Drive Check The Solutions of Case 1 )

This is a problematic case as you can’t modify the DvD All you can try are the Bios Settings
- Try to Set SATA as AHCI on Bios
- Try to Change SATA Ports
- Connect DvD to Primary SATA/PATA Port
